Every few weeks I like to celebrate my indie author wins, big or small! So listed below are some of the wins and losses that I've had recently:
Podcast Episode Released
In February, I recorded a podcast interview with the lovely Nikki Tucker of Chronically_Booked. We chatted about all things chronic illness, including: endometriosis & EDS, POTS, ADHD. We also talked about my writing process and the launch of my debut novel.

First Author Event: SOLD OUT I recently attend my first author event at Magic City Books Bash in Tulsa, OK.
I had a fabulous time and I SOLD OUT of my stock! I ordered a box of 20 books with the goal of selling at least 5.
I ended up selling 18 at the event and the last 2 in the parking lot!
I also made amazing connections with the authors around me. I've been called the biggest hype girl around and its true, I'm always down to hype up a fellow friends endeavors and when I see something that reminds me of you, I'll definitely send it your way or put in a good word.
So naturally, I was selling all the books around me as well as my own! After the first hour, my table mates and I got into a good rhythm of pulling readers in and at least 1 of us would make a sell.
At one point a reader asked, "Are you in competition to try and sell the most books?"
To which I immediately replied, "Absolutely not. Rising tides lift all books--uh, boats!" and then I laughed and laughed and she definitely gave me a weird look but seriously, writing isn't a competition.
I see every indie authors success as my own success. One day it will be my "turn" to be the overnight-breakout-author-with-a-30-book-backlog and I hope writers speak just as kindly about me as readers do.
I hope everyone knows that I always tried my hardest to take the kindest route; that I stood up for the lesser known novelist; that I spoke up for the quiet author who might be too shy to really grab the attention their book deserves.
I'm also aware of when I need to take a backseat myself and let other authors shine. When I'm not making a sale but watch while the people around me do. I think that's especially humbling and I'm grateful for the privilege to experience that.
All that to say, my first author event went fabulously!
